Women who drink more than one alcoholic drink per day have increased risk of high blood pressure, stroke, violence, suicide, and certain types of cancer.
According to a recent study by the Center for Alcohol Research in Denmark, people who drink are more likely to be apple-shaped; thus explaining the term "beer belly" which is often used in describing someone who drinks regularly and has the physical characteristics of this body type.
Caffeinated Alcoholic Beverages (CFLs) are premixed beverages that combine alcohol, caffeine, and other stimulants. They may be malt- or distilled-spirits-based and usually have higher alcohol content than beer (i.e., 5%-12% on average for CFLs and 4%-5% for beer). The caffeine content in these beverages is usually not reported.
An estimated 50,000 cases of alcohol poisoning are reported each year.
